  • Golf carts are allowed on select streets within the city limits that have a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less.  

  • On city streets (inside McKinney city limits) with posted speed limit ≤ 35 mph.    • Can cross intersections with higher posted speed limits if needed.    • Not allowed on sidewalks.

  • 1. Install required lights and reflectors (if not already present).

    2. Make sure you have mirrors that give a good view behind.

    3. Ensure parking brake works properly.

    4. Affix a slow-moving vehicle (SMV) triangle emblem on the back.

    5. Register for the golf cart license plate at the county office (bring proof of ownership or whatever the county requires).

    6. Get insurance if required by the use case (depending on whether you’re in a master planned community or elsewhere).

    7. Drive on allowed roads only (35 mph or less), and avoid sidewalks.
